When the worst happens
When Fire Takes a Home
Whatever brought you here, we are sorry you are facing it. A destroyed property is not only a building. It holds your routines, your belongings, and your sense of home. Our work is to carry the weight of the rebuild for you and give you a clear, steady path forward.
WORKING WITH YOUR INSURER
You Are Not Alone in the Claim
Insurance rebuilds run on a process most people meet only once, at the worst possible time.
We know it well.
Jeff Dolan leads this work at Whitfield, bringing more than 15 years of experience in property damage restoration and reconstruction, along with previous roles as Project Manager and General Manager for a regional restoration company. He has worked closely with homeowners and insurance companies on claims ranging from total losses to substantial reconstruction of multifamily, commercial, and industrial properties.
That familiarity with the claims process benefits our clients and insurers. We communicate clearly and on time, so the process keeps moving, and you always know where things stand.
THE REBUILD, STEP BY STEP
A Clear Path From Fire Loss to Home
Here is how we typically move a project forward, from the first look at the damage to the day you walk back through the door.
1. Assessment and making the site safe.
We start by understanding the damage. Where needed, this includes hazardous materials assessments before any demolition, so the property is safe before work begins.
2. Demolition
We carry out selective or complete demolition of the affected structure, clearing the way for a sound rebuild.
3. Scope & Budget
We define a detailed scope and budget with you and your insurer, then take it through bid and approval before the rebuild is awarded. More on this just below.
4. Design & Permits
Through cooperative design and construction permit applications, we get your rebuild ready to break ground.
5. Reconstruction
We rebuild with a transparent, detailed process that keeps you informed at every stage.
6. Back Home
Our aim throughout stays the same: to get you back into your home or building as quickly as we responsibly can.
Homes Rebuilt From the Ground Up
We don’t just talk about fire rebuilds. We’ve delivered them. Our Ogden Rd project in West Kelowna was a total loss taken from bare foundation to finished home, with the family guided through the claim, the design choices, and every stage of construction. It’s the clearest picture of what rebuilding with us actually looks like, and one of two recent total loss rebuilds we’ve completed, alongside a home at Cambie Place in Penticton.

SCOPE & BUDGET
A Scope Everyone Can Build From
This is a very important part of the process, and it deserves your time and our expertise. That scope becomes the guiding document for the bid tender, so that we and any other contractors engaged by you or the insurance company are working from one comprehensive document.
If we are awarded the project, we sit down with you to confirm the details and how you would like to proceed. Some owners prefer to rebuild as close to the condition and layout from before the loss as possible, while others explore changes such as different floor plans or materials.
Whatever you choose, we review the budget, or update it to reflect your preferences, so you begin the rebuild with a clear understanding of the costs involved.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions Before You Rebuild
Is this fire damage restoration or a full rebuild?
Both meanings show up when people search. We focus on the full structural rebuild after a major or total loss, including demolition, design, permits, and reconstruction. If your claim is a smaller smoke or soot cleanup, we can point you toward the right help.
Do you work directly with my insurance company?
Yes. We work closely with homeowners and insurers throughout the claim, from scope and budgeting to the final rebuild. Our familiarity with the process helps keep everything moving.
What kinds of loss do you rebuild after?
We focus on fire losses where the damage is major or total, along with other claims that involve a total loss, for residential, multifamily, commercial, and industrial properties.
Do you handle demolition and hazardous materials as well?
Yes. We provide hazardous materials assessments before demolition, along with selective and complete demolition of existing structures.
Where do you work?
We are based in Summerland and serve the Okanagan and South Okanagan, from West Kelowna to Osoyoos, including Peachland, Naramata, Penticton, Okanagan Falls, and Oliver.
When should I contact you?
As early as you can. Reaching out early lets us help you understand the scope and work with your insurer from the start.
